Kit graduated the academy with high grades in most subjects, although her nerves during command situations were noted they were nothing particularly unusual for a cadet. She majored in engineering, writing her dissertation on Borg technology (hence the curiosity she has in Six of Twelve).

The DFA Cromwell was her very first posting. She was excited at being assigned to the flag ship and determined to do well... but she still managed to get herself into trouble only a few days in.

She took the shuttle she'd been repairing for the Kazon Cromwell had recently rescued (Kal) on what was meant to be a 3 hour test run, Kal piloted the shuttle and Six of Twelve came in order to watch him because he was under her guard due to him having disobeyed an order from Major Reynolds minuets into being on the ship and also due to his unusual desire to be assimilated. The test did not go as planned and the three ended up crashing into a space ameboa, Kal sent the shuttle to warp, in spite of the fact that it was not ready and they ended up without life support or navigation in the Netrik expanse. They were rescued by the Cooperative who repaired the shuttle. Kit and Six left Kal behind, the grief stricken Kazon finally finding peace within the Cooperative's hive mind, and returned to Cromwell in his shuttle. They were immediately in trouble with Major Reynolds who informed them of the danger they could have put the ship into by arriving back in a shuttle laced with Borg technology. 

They were ordered to remove the technology from the shuttle and were forbidden from leaving the ship again for a week.

Kit was officially assigned the responsibility of being Six's handler in 2419 and attached to the Marines as a specialist.
