Background Information

Melina Vanlith was born on Earth in May of 2407, her father worked as a Doctor and her mother owned her own store, she was the youngest of nine children to be born to her father and the only child he had with his 3rd wife.

Melina Vanlith was always raised to honour her paternal granduncle, who was one of the countless Federation personnel killed at the Battle of Wolf 359 against the Borg, which annoyed her no end, as she'd never met the person, and the Battle of Wolf 359  had happened 40 years earlier.

Melina Vanlith had a low opinion of Starfleet given in her opinion it was far too limited in its future plans and scope of its missions, and had expressed a desire to join the Delta Freedom Alliance.

Melina Vanlith's aunt Lillian a member of the Delta Freedom Alliance was assigned to the DFA Cromwell-B in the Security department as a Petty Officer, so her father arranged for Melina Vanlith to go to Babylon Station and eventually spend time with her aunt to see if she really wanted to join the DFA or if it was just another one of her whims.
