[XO's report.]

After leaving space dock, we rendezvous with the [redacted] group to unify our crew. Shortly after, we encountered an abandoned research freighter. Discussions with involved parties indicated this freighter may be connected to research gathered from outpost AZ 36. We dispatched Ohana with a full research contingent for data retrieval. We discovered the freighter was Cardassian in origin and specifically designed for covert research with multiple deceptive countermeasures in place.

We were contacted by the Borg, indicating a shared interest in the vessel. We "negotiated" terms for shared information and ultimately avoided an altercation with the Collective, extracted as much data as possible, and resumed our course toward [redacted]. The Collective held up their end of the agreement. Six of 12, Heter, and Neilson are working on the data.

Ens. Yel S'Hirt was injured on the away mission and will make a full recovery. However, he will likely be benched for our trip to [redacted].

In preparation for our trip to [redacted], we have been conducting training preparation exercises.

Lt. S'Hirt has been training cadet Vi as a shuttle pilot.

Things have been moving slowly for the time being. Time has taught me to respect the calm before the storm, because when it gets crazy, nothing will stop it, and all hell will break loose.

Our next stop, Deep Space 9 for supplies, R&R, and other things before we head to [redacted].
