Lumi, C7, C5, Neilson and Melina, along with Jordan, Sarak, Kirk and Missy, went to the Memory Arcade and explored one of C7’s early memories; meeting Sarak for the first time at a Vulcan animal shelter. Lumi played with a Le-Matya cub, while Neilson and Melina encouraged them to get a pet of their own. The group was enjoying the memory before they were interrupted by a mysterious Talosian visitor offering them food and asking about their experiences at the park. Neilson, C7, C5 and Melina were suspicious of the visitor and immediately on edge. Lumi asked his name. Since Talosians communicate telepathically and rarely use given names, he didn’t have one, but said Lumi could call him ‘Bill’.
Meanwhile, Twelve, Myriad, Evoras and I went on the Dreamcoaster. I was apprehensive at first, but ended up having a good time (coffee cake appearing in the clouds certainly helped put me in a better mood). Myriad and Evoras are full of sugar from the Candyfloss clouds on the ride now too and then the same visitor who came to see Lumi’s group, visited us as well, offering us a variety of sweets. Myriad and Evoras seem particularly enthralled with cookies in the shapes of animals.
The visitor explained the reason why Twelve’s companion was simply a clone of him, while the rest of our companions were beings of our imagination. The nutshell is, they can’t read his mind properly. Given the experience Lumi had when trying to form a pack bond with Twelve, I’m not surprised. Twelve has a strong resistance to telepathy and his hybrid biology is confusing the technology. I explained to our host, the concept of “uncanny valley” and why Twelve didn’t love having an exact copy of himself follow him around. The Host has promised to see if he can rectify the issue, though given that Twelve’s animal cookie also looks like him, while ours look like things from our imagination, I think it may be a struggle. Twelve is obviously not a fan of our visitor, but at least the kids are enjoying themselves, although I don’t look forward to the after effects of all the sugar.
