{Personal Log - Unit - 2426.06}
Meeting Seven-or-Jito’s “family” did not go well. Rutel brought us to the home of a family of Cardassians but we immediately noticed that their DNA did not match Seven-or-Jito’s.
Rutel claims that all of Seven-or-Jito’s biological family were killed during the Dominion War and that these people are distant relatives, related, I assume, by marriage rather than blood. Six of Twelve confirmed that the losses from the Dominion War were substantial enough for this to be plausible but when Rutel offered to let us see the database, Lyra left the house and went to the transport. Six said that we would see the database, so this is where we are going now.
Lyra says that Rutel is “full of shit” because it is strange that she is allowing us to see their records, when before she was reluctant to even search for Seven-or-Jito’s family. Rutel makes me uncomfortable. She reminds me of Nobody. I thought I might be being paranoid, but Lyra says Rutel reminds her of One and what is the chance of us both being paranoid? Regardless, I do not like it here and neither does Lyra. She says Cardassia reminds her of a cult, and I can see the similarities. It is not the lack of individuality that makes me uncomfortable, however, but the lack of authenticity. The way so many things are “not to be spoken about”. There is nothing quite like a cult than being forbade to question, right? I cannot prove that Rutel means us harm, but the way Seven-or-Jito trusts her so blindly reminds me too much of how much I trusted Nobody so I am determined to protect her from a similar experience. Lyra and I are making a plan now, while we travel to this records place. I want to ask my Father for information, but he has been quiet, which leads me to believe that our suspicions about a dampening field around the Government building may be correct.
